Gudleiv Bø (b. 1939), was professor of Scandinavian Literature at the University of Oslo, Norway, from 1979 until his retirement in 2009. He has published several books on the authorship of Norwegian author Arne Garborg. The present book was first published in Norwegian in 2000. His doctoral thesis was on the compositional grammar and gender roles of pulp fiction for boys and girls respectively. In addition he has published books on Norwegian folklore and on the theme of nation building in Norwegian literature. He has published numerous articles on literary topics.
